Web Site Hits 5000th Visitor!

ZZ165482D2

In the almost two years since the web site received a major reworking it has been visited by 5000 different visitors. This might not seem a lot by every day Internet activity - there are many web sites that receive visits by hundreds of thousand people each month. But for 2 parishes that between them only have a regular weekly Mass attendance of 3-400 people the scale of attention is quite significant.

As you might expect the most popular web pages of the site are - Home Page, Welcome Page, Mass Information, Parish News, and About Us. Between them these web pages are viewed in total about 2000 times every month. Over the last 2 years we have tried to include other information/services that have been suggested by parishioners but largely they were not used and have been removed.

So if you have ideas for a popular web page that you do not see on the web site at present why not less us know what it is you'd like and we'll see what we can do. Click here to send an email to us.

Can You Help with Marriage Preparation?

Marriage Care is seeking people who are able to support them in one of three ways: -

1- To train in order to help couples explore their relationship prior to the Wedding day;

2 - To Train as a Councillor to help people in relationship problems

3 - To help support the local Marriage Care Management team.

The time commitment will vary according to path you take to help. Marriage Care has a national web site for those who may want to know more about the organisation, www.marriagecare.org.uk or you can contact me via your Parish Priest.

Easter Offertory - Thank You from the Cameroons

Once again on behalf of our Infant Jesus Sisters in Somo, Cameroon I would like to thank you , Fr Barry, and all the people of the parish for your continued generosity towards our Sisters in Cameroon. As I said to Sr Ita last night I appreciate that every penny, every pound of your contribution has to be earned and collected. You are a living example of Christian sharing with our sisters and brothers in need.

I spoke to Sr Noreen who is in Cameroon at present. The sisters run a Technical school, a 4-year cycle, for 100 girls in Somo. They are constantly in need of school materials.e.g. - tracing paper for patterns, needles, upkeep of sewing machines/computers, cooking materials, textbooks, supplies which we take for granted but which are treasured in Somo. During the first months of this year there has been alot of politicial unrest which has an immediate impact on the funding of schools, hospitals for their day-to-day running expenses.Thank you very much indeed for enabling us to continue our work among these girls to provide them with skills for their future life.

May the blessings of Peace and Joy of the Risen Lord fill your hearts and home in recognition of your sustained spirit of sharing.

With loving and grateful wishes,

S Alice KilBride, General Bursar Infant Jesus Sisters

Easter Offertory - Thank You from Mutomo

Again we send our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Barry and all parishioners of Christ The King, Holy Rood and St.Joachim for the very generous gift of money to our community in Kenya this Easter.

Kenya is getting back to some sort of normality after the most terrible recent struggle and we pray for peace, rain and better times for all.

You are all in our prayers too.

Kindest regards from Sr. Marian.
