Annual Collection for Cabrini Children’s Society - February 14th

On Sunday 14th February the Annual Collection for Cabrini Children’s Society will take place.

The Society provides support and care for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our community.

Their work includes providing subsidised Breakfast & Homework Clubs and Pre-school Care; Counselling for school age children experiencing stress and exclusion; Residential Care for young people with special needs and Catechetical Programmes for children and young people with disabilities.

The Society relies on the generosity and good will of the Catholic community to continue its work in our diocese. Please give what you can to help give the next generation the chance they deserve.

Thank You From Cameroon

A very special Thank You to you Fr Barry and parishioners for your Christmas gift which I received 2 days ago for our sisters in Cameroon.

I know in these hard times it will be very welcome. S Noreen is returning there on Sunday next and she told me yesterday that every penny of it will be put to great use. Your gift and sacrifices enable us to continue our mission in the Technical School in Somo. It caters for 80 women who follow a 4-year course in sewing, cooking and house management after which they receive a qualification.

Recently for hygiene purposes and better quality of life we extended the kitchen area and they now have a small room where they can sit down in turn and eat together. Thanks to your generosity they will be able to buy the necessary tables and chairs. A lot of the teaching is through demonstration.

Your gift will also enable them to buy the necessary teaching materials such as thread, tracing paper, sewing materials. etc., as well as food and in-service training for the teachers.

As I have said before they receive no state aid whatsoever.

Renewed heartfelt thanks to you all and every grace and blessing for 2010 is our prayer and wish for you!
