Eastbourne Borough Council Web Site - Latest Church News

Just discovered - If you visit the Council's web site and follow the links to 'Community and Living', then 'Religion, Faiths and Beliefs', then 'Latest Church News' you will see that our parishes web site is one of only two currently listed. Clicking on the link for our parish brings up the list of the most recent Parish news items, each of which can be selected to view the full item. to get to the list directly, click here

You might like to take a look at the Christ Church, Seaside web site to see if there is a feature that they include which you think might be useful for our own parishes to consider.

It would be good if more churches had both web sites and feeds that can be displayed under the 'Latest Church News' part of the Council's web site.

Photography Competition - The Cross

The Catholic Children’s Society is on the look out for interesting photographs depicting the theme of ‘the cross’ which they can print as greetings cards. It may be that you already have a possible photo tucked away in a box in the loft but perhaps there will be new opportunities when you are away on holiday this summer? The six winning entries will be printed in a series of limited edition cards which will be made available to purchase online to raise money for the Society. Entries close on 15th September 2008 so there is still plenty of time.
Full details of how to apply are online at www.cathchild.org or you can email or call Ann Hoggan from the Supporter Care team: ann.hoggan@cathchild.org 020 8668 2181 she will be pleased to post you an application form.
Good luck, and happy snapping!

Thank You Mike Woods

After looking after Parish Finances for almost 25 years, Mike has now handed over to Eugene Adams. On behalf of all in the parish, our special thanks go to Mike for giving so much of his time and expertise. It is a crucial task in a parish, and most of the work is unseen.

Do You Want to Make a Difference?

Volunteers are invited to be trained as social mentors to support offenders during their final 6 weeks in HMP Lewes (3 to 4 visits), meet them on release and support them within the community following release. You will become the facilitator of all existing support services giving the ex-offenders realistic targets to aim towards, acting as advocate wherever necessary. It has been proven that intensive social mentoring of ex-offenders does significantly reduce re-offending rates, creating a safer community to live in, but more importantly enabling our ex-offenders to rebuild their life to one within which they live, not just solely exist.
All volunteers will require Enhanced CRB checks, plus others security checks imposed by HMP Lewes.
For further details please contact Pauline Prior at sussexpathways@surefish.co.uk.
